A phenomenal stay at Atana Bidiyah private camp. Jassim and his crew know hospitality and will make your private desert stay a wonderful experience. You may believe this to be a once in a lifetime experience, but my heart is set on returning to the desert, to Bidiyah, and to Oman. The camp is the furthest one in the desert so we were very far from the town of Bidiyah and it’s light pollution- far enough away to see the beautiful night sky be-speckled with stars. The tent is well designed and faces east to capture the most beautiful sunrise you’ll ever see over the desert sand dunes. No match for what you’ll see on Dune or Tatooine. There were just a few tents at this camp making for a very private setting, with just a few friendly neighbors. The base of the camp is where we had meals. They prepared great dishes (buffet), and had vegetarian options too. After dinner, we sat outside with the few people at the camp and had some tea and conversation. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and sometimes there’s a fire at night. The camp also boasts eco tourism using solar cells and limits the use of plastics. It was very quiet (except for the winds). There’s a fully functioning open air, private, outdoor bathroom attached to our tent where you can shower under the stars. Keep in mind that you’ll be covered in a thin layer of sand and sometimes it gets very windy so some eye protection would’ve come in handy. Lastly, I highly recommend meeting the crew at the meeting point in Bidiyah and having them drive on the desert sand. Jassim picked us up, had great communication, and simply the most hospitable and nicest person you’ll ever meet. He stopped so we could say hi to the camels, take a few photos, and had a few laughs.

The tents were very comfortable, tea, coffee and dates were available all the time, the breakfast was delicious. We also received precise instructions on how to find our way by car through the desert, which was very helpful. Payment is also possible here by card.

The area is popular for skiing and cycling, and ski equipment hire is available at the accommodation. The location is great. In the middle of nowhere. Very peaceful place. Very helpful stuff.

The bungalows are very comfortable, beautifully designed, and modern. The mattress and sofa were incredibly cozy, making our stay even more enjoyable. The bathroom was fully functional, with a comfortable water temperature, allowing us to take a refreshing shower after a day in the desert. The food was absolutely delicious! Chef Mohammed puts his heart into every dish, and you can truly taste the passion in his cooking. Everything was incredibly tasty! A special thanks to the host, Abdullah. He is very friendly, always available, and ready to assist with anything you need. He even organized a small desert safari for us, which was an unforgettable experience!

Some units include a terrace and/or a balcony with garden views and an outdoor dining area. At the campground, certain units are equipped with a kettle and chocolates or cookies. Amazing service from all of the staff. We loved the space between each dome, providing privacy for our family of 5 and ensuring we were not disturbed during the stay. Authentic food was served as well, including traditional Omani dishes and fresh grills, including traditional bread cooking in the fire. It was an amazing experience, totally adapted for kids, group of friends and families!
