A wonderful atmospheric place with a beautiful garden. The rooms are spacious and clean, great bath and excellent food. I felt very good there and slept like a baby. I have good memories of my stay there and the wonderful care of the host, Mrs. Junko

This is one of the most special stays me and my family have ever made at an accommodation. The host family makes the stay amazing giving insight to what it is like to live at a temple.

Beautiful temple accommodation with phenomenal food, definitely include the dinner and breakfast in your reservation! Close to beautiful temples and fantastic walks.

As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

Lovely place to relax after our city stays.
Easier to travel to than anticipated, JR train journey from Osaka then local bus to within 300/400 metres.
Really enjoyed the evening meal but not so much the breakfast.
My daughter being able to try on a kimono was one of the highlights of our Japanese holiday.

The service was amazing. The employees were very attentive and made sure you have everything you need. The food was the best food out of the entire holiday in Japan.
The garden and surrounding area is so beautiful. Definitely recommend staying here and taking the time to walk up Mt Minobu.
If you can’t speak Japanese very well it’s no problem. Most staff speak excellent English and the remainder still communicate very well and are super friendly. All staff were happy to answer our questions about food and places to see.
