The property was absolutely superb. Very elegant, quality fittings and well furnished with beautiful linen and towels. I loved the location and how organised, beautiful and well kept the entire property was. I was extremely impressed. I want to return and try a different room. The building itself had recently undergone a major renovation, so everything was new. A beautiful victorian manor, the renovations have maintained the charm of the place while providing modern amenities. Very well done. The staff were great - extremely polite and helpful, we lost our luggage en-route and the staff helped us to recover it. I think they went the extra mile. Breakfast (full English) was cooked to order and very tasty - proper bacon and sausage, also very good selection of bread, spreads etc. The dining room and bar areas very well designed, retaining the We also went for a walk around the grounds, over a bridge and down the river, about 1 hours walk - very nice, everything well maintained. Also the location was excellent - rural but only 25 mins drive to York centre.

The location can’t be beat - you walk out the front gate and you’re at the cathedral. Breakfast was PHENOMENAL. All the staff were very kind and accommodating. Room was well equipped, relaxing and had lots of nice touches including welcome truffles!
